It will be very interesting one day to follow the pattern of our life as it is spread out like a beautiful tapestry. As long as we live here we see only the reverse side of the weaving, and very often the pattern, with its threads running wildly, doesn’t seem to make sense. Some day, however, we shall understand.
In looking back over the years we can discover how a red thread goes through the pattern of our life: the Will of God.

I took my children into the hills. It is one of my favorite things to do. We hike, we talk, and laugh ….and snack on trail mix.
And we consider things. Do we like the pace of our lives? Are we too over committed to activities we no longer find important? We talk, we plan, and we consider what is important for the next season. We find it helpful to reflect on the previous season before moving on to the next one.
I do this personally with goal setting and reflective journaling. But with my children, it generally takes the form of asking about what is working and what isn’t, and about hopes they have for the next season. We have found that talking seasonally rather than the year as a whole works well for our family.
